Molecular Foundry User Program Manager - 75581 Organization: MS-Materials Sciences The Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley invites outstanding applications for the position of Foundry User Program Manager. This important role manages the Foundry�s biannual scientific proposal process, including administration associated with user proposal submissions, peer reviews and scheduling of approved projects. Additional key deliverables include growth of an engaged/diverse user community, development and maintenance of custom Oracle-based user databases, generation/oversight/analysis of user data for high level dissemination, and management of the annual user meeting via the Foundry�s User Executive Committee. Additionally, the program manager will provide technical consultation and oversight management in safety and IT services, coordinate Foundry user space planning and implementation, consult on specific laboratory expansion planning and upgrade services, and supervise User Program Office staff and students. The position reports to the Molecular Foundry Director of User Programs. Specific Responsibilities: � Manage all aspects of the Molecular Foundry�s User Program; areas of responsibility include development of policy, management of the proposal submission and review processes, coordination of schedules and logistics of current and potential user visits; manage proposal reviews and project acceptance/rejection processes, Foundry communications and outreach efforts and tracking of user project final reports and project-related technical journal publications. � Serve as the business and administrative point of contact for all Foundry users; help negotiate, track and prioritize user agreements with various LBNL and DOE entities. � Responsible for development, oversight and maintenance of the Foundry�s Oracle-based user databases; operational reports for statistical information on Foundry user activities. � Design, implement and manage the Foundry�s user-available equipment/instrument scheduling, tracking and full user cost recovery systems. � Serve as the Foundry�s chief administrative contact with the User Executive Committee (UEC) and support its activities, programs and subcommittees. � Manage Foundry space planning requirements, including space utilization, statistics and occupancy seating assignments and upgrades for new and existing user spaces. � Determine programmatic requirements to carry out planning and logistics for the annual users� meetings; prepare budget estimates. � Supervise the work of administrative staff, IT staff, communications and outreach specialist, consultants and student support personnel. � Develop strategic partnerships with industry and other institutions. � Prepare and submit approved annual and periodically requested user-based statistics. � Manage internal processing for users including site access, and facilitate housing for Foundry users/visitors, as needed. � Working with internal safety representatives, help formulate, track and implement user safety program policies.

Requirements:
Qualifications: � Bachelor�s degree or any combination of education and experience equal to 8+ years of administrative management and supervision, delivery of business services and project planning/management, preferably in research or technical environment; program management experience is highly preferred. � Supervisory (exempt and non-exempt staff) experience, including hiring, performance management, mentoring/coaching, and workforce planning � Demonstrated experience in applying initiative and sound judgment toward practical/resourceful resolution � Excellent planning, organizational, and analytical skills � Effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with customer-focused approach � Experience with facilities projects, safety, space and meeting planning � Preferred: Advanced degree and/or experience equal to 12+ years of administrative and/or scientific program management, administrative operations, delivery of business services and project planning � Preferred: Knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) policies � Preferred: Familiarity with various international/diverse business cultures How To Apply Apply directly online at http://bit.ly/lbl75581TinyTech and follow the instructions to complete the application process.
