We currently have an opening for a Process Engineer within our Materials group in Durham NC. We hope you’ll read on to see if you have what it takes to join the revolution. Summary: Cree is seeking a high potential, resourceful, hands-on, problem solving Sustaining Engineer with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing environment and work constructively with a team of manufacturing personnel, engineers and technicians. The candidate will be responsible for sustaining and improving processes to drive quality, yield, cost and through-put improvements. Job Responsibilities: - Ownership of processes and projects in SiC wafer manufacturing that improve quality, yield, productivity or cost - Act as a technical lead for the sustaining team during 1st shift weekends as well as supporting 24x7 engineering operations (including off-shift response as necessary). - Analysis of process and manufacturing data , as well as preparation of summaries (both written and verbal) for distribution internally to the operations team - Establish manufacturing and engineering procedures, protocols, qualification plans and OCAPs - Provide troubleshooting assistance for manufacturing processes - Support downstream customers to drive value-add to the company If you are someone looking for a high visibility position with a growing company, then we encourage you to read through the next two sections which describe the type of experience and education we’re looking for in order to be successful in this position.

Requirements:
Requirements: - BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field - 3-5 years experience in the semiconductor industry in a manufacturing or engineering capacity - High energy, self-motivated attitude with an ability to interface effectively with personnel at different levels of the organization - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Able to make individual contributions while staying focused on the goals of the group - Able to adjust to changing priorities and schedules to keep engineering projects on-track - Strong attention to detail - Self-starter with strong personal work ethic and a “whatever it takes” attitude Preferences: - MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field - 5-10 years experience in the semiconductor industry in a manufacturing or engineering capacity - Data analysis skills and experience with Access and JMP - Prior hands-on experience semiconductor wafer manufacturing operations such asetch, clean, implant, furnace, wafer inspection metrology, wire sawing, grinding, lapping, and/or polishing
